Mixtape and product launch, 2011

“Legitmix is a new platform that allows musicians to legally sample music from other sources — and sell it — without going through the sample-clearing process. To introduce Legitmix to the world, the company has teamed up with Diplo and his label Mad Decent. Right now, Legitmix is selling Diplo’s latest DJ mix, a 40-minute set called Mad Legit.”  — Pitchfork, 2011

Having set his sites on world famous Dj and tastmaker Diplo to launch Legitmix, co-founder Booker Sim set to work with his Legitmix team, Diplo’s Mad Decent label and Biz 3 Publicity to make the “MAD LEGIT” concept a reality, generating tons of buzz for the new platform.  A beta launch of Legitmix and MAD LEGIT coincided with Mad Decent’s first official SXSW party, which Legitmix sponsored (and where Booker filmed the above Diplo interview).

Like all Legitmix-powered releases, with MAD LEGIT, both remixers and the artists they sample get credited and paid.

Booker also worked with Diplo’s Mad Decent label on MOOMBAHTON REMIXES, an EP of dance-floor ready remixes in the moombahton style, featuring remixes by moombahton inventor Dave Nada and other pioneers of the genre.
