Innovation Research, Strategy & Education
I’ve written elsewhere about my lifetime of experience with startups and innovation, from my uncle Rob sharing his behind-the-scenes account of growing Sim Video from the basement of his house (where I worked summers for him in my teens) to Sim International with 500 employees on four continents, to reporting directly to Cervélo co-founder Gerard Vroomen during the company’s historic run in the late 2000s, to collaborating with music industry leaders on my own startup Legitmix, to creating innovative content and experiences about innovation at Jam3 for Success Academy, Google ZOO, Microsoft and award-winning interactive documentaries NUCLEAR DISSENT, CHANGE GOUT and SONS OF GALLIPOLI – not to mention telling Jam3’s innovation story from BEAR 71 onwards through case studies.
Recent related work includes an founder educational series for startup incubator MaRS, brand storytelling for Detroit-based cannabis startup Common Citizen, strategy and content for Liquor Labs’ low-carbon waste-reuse Vodkow vodka and ethanol fuel. 2023 saw me use my documentary skills to tell Microsoft user stories around the world and provide strategy and fundraising efforts for web3 startup Biom – all this contributing to ever-evolving qualitative methodology informed by continuous research on the theory and practice of documentary co-creation using AI, web3 and proto-metaverse XR technologies at Seneca College.
